Wild in the Woods (Cambourne): Sticks and Saws

Child playing with sticks of wood

This is part of an annual programme of Wild in the Woods family sessions on Wednesdays during school holidays in Cambourne.

In this session, join Becca Badger for an adventure on Cambourne Nature Reserve. We'll walk to Oaks Wood, (maybe climb a tree?) and then have a go at making some things from wood using basic tools like saws, potato peelers, and secateurs. We might:

  • cut some wood slices to make a pendant
  • lash some sticks together to make a frame or star
  • cut some elder to make beads
  • Make a magic wand

This session is perfect for ages 7-11. Older children will also enjoy the activity. It is not suitable for children under 5 for health and safety reasons. You are welcome to bring pre-walking babies in a buggy or sling, but please do not bring other children under 5.
