Great Fen Tree Party - Family Day

Wildflowers

Take action for wildlife this February half-term!

On Wednesday 21st February, families of all ages are invited to our Great Fen Tree Party! We'll be improving the site for wildlife by planting many different varieties of trees around the reserve. We'll have tree-themed crafts available for the children too and stories to enjoy. The mud kitchen will be set up and the den areas are waiting for your climbing and shelter-building skills.

On Thursday 22nd February, we'll continue with our planting, but the day will be designed more for our adult volunteers. Families are still welcome to come if you missed Wednesday and still want to help, but we won't have the same additional activities available.

Varieties include blackthorn, hazel, elder, dogwood, hawthorn, spindle, oak, beech, alder and field maple, with more besides. These will provide homes and food for many wildlife species, such as birds, insects and mammals.

Bring a spade, if you have one, and gardening gloves. Dress prepared to get muddy and with wellies or walking boots if possible. Refreshments are provided on both days. Donations appreciated to help us cover costs. Everyone who participates can leave with a certificate for being an environmental hero!

This event is free to attend. Arrive any time between 10.30-2pm. Activities will be packed away at 2.30pm. Pre-booking is advisable.
