Ely Local Group Event: Burwell Fen Walk

Wellies

Burwell Fen is an early acquisition in the National Trust’s ambitious expansion of its Wicken Fen reserve. Although only relatively recently given over to nature in comparison with established parts of this famous reserve, it is already proving a great draw for a whole host of species and well worth a visit at any time of year. In late Spring it should host a variety of waders and wildfowl settling down to breed. Skylarks, Kestrels and Barn Owls should be amongst the other birds on show and there’s always the chance of a seasonal rarity. Hares and Roe Deer may be visible, as well as the Konig ponies and Highland Cattle that help to manage it.

Please note the walk is around 3.5 miles.

We will meet in Ely to car-share over to the site. Please contact Will if you require, or can offer, a lift.
