Discover the Wonders of Wetland Wildlife
Did you know, 40% of our planet's species live and breed in wetlands? Healthy wetlands store carbon and slow the flow of water, cleaning it naturally and reducing flood risk downstream. They support an abundance of plant life, which in turn provide perfect shelter, nurseries and breeding grounds for wildlife.
Come and follow our trail around the nature reserve to discover some of the key wetland species that can be found in the Great Fen. From bats to bitterns, common frogs to crickets, marsh harriers to mosquitoes, it really is a wonderful world. There are so many species to discover including insects, mammals, birds, reptiles and plants all in the amazing setting of the Wildlife Trust Countryside Centre, Ramsey Heights. As always we have lots of nature-based activities to experience such as minibeast hunting, den building and pond dipping (offer subject to change depending on the weather) and fun crafts to make and take home.
Book your ticket then drop in any time between 10am and 3pm. Stay as long as you like. Why not pack a picnic? Please note, organised activities will be packed away at 3pm. We recommend allowing at least 1.5 hours for your visit so would not suggest arriving any later that 1.30pm to take full advantage of what's on offer. The site itself remains open after this time for further exploration.
