Brilliant Beetles - Summer Holiday Family Fun at Paxton Pits!

Come along to discover more about brilliant beetles and have a chance to hunt for them in various different habitats, including sweep-netting and pond dipping! Meet these unsung heroes of the natural world and discover more about the very important jobs they do, and also what you can do to help them!

Each family can make their own special beetle bucket to take home too! Due to us using tools, this session is suitable for children of a minimum age of four years old, and would also be fun for young people of up to the age of about fourteen years old. Younger siblings in prams/buggies under 18 months old, would be fine accompanying too.

Please book a ticket for everyone who is attending. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wildlife Trust BCN member and non-member tickets available. Are you a member of the Wildlife Trust BCN? You can get money off your ticket by selecting a member ticket (we may ask for your membership number upon arrival for verification purposes).

Non-members £7:50 per child plus booking fee. Members £5:00 per child plus booking fee.

Includes a 'Bring Back our Beetles' guide to take home!

Lots to do outdoors too so wear long trousers (very important for sweep-netting, which we will ask you to tuck into your socks at one point) and sensible shoes with closed toes and do bring raincoats. As the site is exposed sunhats and suncream are very important too.

Please be aware all litter/recycling will need to be taken home with you. It is a good idea to bring with you a flask of drink/re-useable bottle pre-filled with water. Refreshments are also available to purchase from the Visitors Centre up the road afterwards.

The session will run for 1 and 3/4 hours approximately.

Sorry no dogs (except assistance dogs) are allowed in the Environmental Education Area.

Please do not attend if you or your family feel unwell or have COVID-19. In this instance please contact Debbie as soon as possible on the mobile number below.
